Red Queen is the first book is a four book series.
Description:
This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.
The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.
That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.
Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.
But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart ...

Red Queen is one of those books where it grabs your hand and says "Let me take you on an adventure of a life time."
I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of this from my husband for Christmas. I went into this book really having know idea what it was about. The cover was what drew me too it. But once I started reading it and met Mare I was hooked.
I found at times it reminded me of the Hunger Games in some ways. They had arenas and a group that was making another set of people their slaves. A ruler who was corrupt and a young girl who was leading a rebel group. But I think those aspects are part of what I loved about this book. I didn't know coming into it that it was a series and in some ways I wish I had. Book 2 Glass Sword came out in early February 2016, and sadly I will have to wait another two years for the rest of the series to be out. But this is one of those series I will gladly wait for. I highly recommend you check it out.
